ज़माने से आँखे मोड़ ली ,  /  19  July  2019

मेरी हर खामियों के 
मिटटी से बने मेरे पैरों के 
बावजूद , 
जिए जाता हूँ ;

तुम पूछो तो कहूं :

तुम मेरी हो , सिर्फ मेरी 
मैं तेरा हूँ ,
तेरे अलावा किसी और का नहीं ;

नैनोसे मेरे 
मिलाके नैन तेरे ,

तू ने तो 
ज़माने से आँखे मोड़ ली ,

बेशक 
तेरे हज़ारो चाहने वाले 
तेरे पैर को छूने 
तड़पते होंगे ;

मुज़मे वो गुस्ताखी कहाँ के 
उठाके नज़र 
गौर से तेरा चहेरा 
देख लू  !

पर आँखे बंध  कर 
तेरे दामन को छुआ 
तब बोल पाया :

उम्र चाहे मेरी हो 
ज़िंदगी तुम्हारी है

I have only you,

You have only me :

That is the only reason

I go on living

With all my imperfections,

And my feet of clay ;

You have accepted me

And closed your eyes,

To the rest of the world.

There are many

Who would want

To touch your feet –

I dare not

Even gaze at your Angel face,

But closing my eyes

When I touched your bosom,

It was to tell you

My reason for existence

Is not me,

It is you.
