पर मैं कैसा बादल

मैं कैसा बादल ,

आँखे भरी है आंसू से 
पर , रो न पाऊ  ;

खूब जानता हूँ 
खूब जानता हूँ ,

रेगिस्तान में खिले पौधे की तरह 
तुम मेरे आंसू को तरसती हो ,

पर मैं कैसा बादल 
जो तुम्हे 
इक नन्ही सी छाँव 
न दे पाया  !

From original English , " A Lonely Cloud " written on 03 Feb 1959 , as below :

I am a tearful cloud
that cannot cry ,
my tears, knowing ,
would not reach
some thirsty patch of land ,
nor cool
the desert winds hot  ;

I am a lonely cloud,
in a sultry summer sky ,
that cannot cast a shadow,
for a lovely belle,
beneath to lie .
